Profit from subsidiary companies rose 73% to ₹1,990 crore during Q2 FY27 from ₹1,149 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. This substantial increase helped strengthen the group’s consolidated earnings.

On a standalone basis, NTPC reported PAT of ₹5,319.94 crore, compared with ₹4,653.33 crore in Q2 FY26, representing growth of approximately 14.3%. Standalone revenue from operations increased to ₹45,752 crore from ₹39,164.82 crore during the corresponding period.

The company is also developing a diversified portfolio covering renewable energy, battery storage, pumped-storage projects and nuclear power. Its growth strategy is aimed at supporting India’s long-term energy requirements while increasing the contribution of cleaner energy sources.

What the Results Mean for India’s Power Sector

Higher generation, strong capacity utilisation and improved subsidiary contributions have strengthened NTPC’s earnings during the first half of FY27. At the same time, investments in renewable energy, energy storage and nuclear power indicate that the company’s future growth strategy is increasingly diversified.

For investors and finance professionals, the Q2 results provide an important indicator of the financial health and operational performance of one of India’s largest public sector enterprises.
